Hurricane Ruth is old school, real and raw. Her vocals are deeply rooted in the blues but make no mistake she can rock the house! She is cut from the same cloth as Big Mama Thornton, Janis Joplin, and Tina Turner. Hurricane Ruth pulls from all these greats to create her own unique sound with blues roots and a rock and roll heart. Hurricane Ruth is a powerful, unpredictable, ever-changing MUSICAL FORCE OF NATURE!
Music is in Ruth’s blood; her father was a musician too. Some of Ruth’s earliest and fondest memories were of the Sunday jam sessions at the Glendale Tavern in Beardstown, IL. She would keep time on the ride cymbal while he played.
Hurricane Ruth earned her name because no one believed that such a large sound could come out of such a small woman!
The great WILLIE DIXON once told Ruth “You’re the only hurricane I can appreciate.”
Ruth has performed with John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, Willie Dixon, Taj Mahal, Ramsey Lewis Trio, Sam & Dave, Fenton Robinson, Maynard Ferguson, and his orchestra, and most recently: Ronnie Baker Brooks, and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Ruth has opened for renowned rockers: Heart, Judas Priest, Joan Jett, and The Blackhearts & Steppenwolf, just to name a few.

WILLIE DIXON
"She emotes in a way that allows her searing, soulful tones to reflect a deeply rooted signature style. Indeed, as her name suggests, she's a force of nature, and like a storm that's barreling forward, the power she possesses is worthy of respect."
LEE ZIMMERMAN, LIVING BLUES MAGAZINE
“Hurricane Ruth has a voice that seems born of the blues yet destined to rock. A raw, powerful force ready and eager to tear apart whatever might stand in her way. This is a voice that bares all with each syllable.”
