Dirty Red & The SoulShakers are a modern day powerhouse blues band, built on old -school influences, and a mutual love for the down and dirty style blues that has come to define the bands original sound. A dangerously tight rhythm section backs a funky shake your money maker groove guaranteed, to get the ladies dancing and the good times flowing. Add a lone weeping  guitar, blues harmonica and soul filled vocals and everybody’s in trouble.

In January 2018, Dirty Red & The SoulShakers represented Oklahoma at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. They made it into the semi-finals.

Eric “Dirty Red” McDaniel fronts the band with a fiery blues harp, soul drenched vocals, and the high energy stage presence of an old timey gun toting, whiskey sipping Southern preacher hell bent for higher ground. He has more than 30 years song writing experience, and got his start on stage with Oklahoma Blues legend Miss Blues. Eric has appeared on recordings with Miss Blues and The Blue Notes, Old Gray Mule, Rickett Pass and Cedric Burnside as well as writing and co-producing the band’s debut CD, Soul Shakin.

Guitarist Ike Lamb, Blues Music Award Winner (formerly known as the Handy Awards) for best record of the year with Watermelon Slim and the Workers, has been playing professionally for over 30 years. He has played, recorded, and toured with countless acts over this span and provides an energetic, seasoned playing style.

Drummer Forrest Worrell, born in Ft. Wayne, IN, 1965, studied piano from age 6-13, and played Trombone in school band. That is where he discovered his true passion and began his study of percussion at age 13. He performed in his first professional gig at age 17. He has performed with Otis Watkins, Miss Blues, Watermelon Slim, and many acts in between. Opened for Koko Taylor, Robert Cray Band, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Dr. Hook, and he toured the UK in 2013 with Watermelon Slim and the Workers.

Bassist Terry Pettet began his musical pursuits in Kansas City, MO at a young age- finding his preferred voice to be on bass guitar by the age of twelve. Over the years, Terry played with such KC talent as Millage Gilbert, Soul Shakin’ Blues Band and Little Eva and the Works- among others, at Knuckleheads. While he was with KC Brass and Electric, he shared the stage with Wayne Jackson of the legendary Memphis Horns, and opened for such national acts as Roomful of Blues at the old Grand Emporium.

TESTIMONIALS

"McDaniel has a gritty, feral growl of a voice that is perfectly suited for this brand of music and the band provides stellar support."

GRAHAM CLARKE, BLUES BYTES

"With a voice that is a unique cross between Howlin Wolf and Omar Kent Dykes, Dirty Red And The Soul Shakers bring that mighty fine vintage sound to a collection of blues-rockers in “Cloudless Day.”
